“Only in the remembrance of Allah will your hearts find peace” (Qur’an: Basically, the Qur’anic verses aim at the benefit, safety, and security of human beings in the life of this world, whilst guiding them in inheriting Allah’s paradise and blessing. This necessitates everyone to endeavor in protecting him/herself from the tormenting punishment in the hereafter by remembering Allah throughout his/her life. Allah’s remembrance is the key element that causes one’s safety in the world and hereafter. At all times, the remembrance of Allah, the Almighty, immunizes man from falling into the clutches of Satan who incites people to commit disobedience, sins, and more serious crimes. In various ways, remembrance reimburses one to obtain the means of overcoming difficulties and disasters. On the other side, it guides them to withstand many ways of avoiding sources of complications and calamities. This effort brings them under secured protection as long as they are practicing the remembrance of Allah, which would prevent all forms of annoyances from them.
The remembrance of Allah is an alarming warning system that rings a bell for mankind against falling into sins, crimes, immoralities, felonies, aggressions, abuses, and other form of antisocial behavior. Man must prevent the consequences of all these wrongdoings. Instead, one must be seeking the straight forward means of obtaining salvation in eternal life by having safe and easy reckoning. In the world, man needs to behave under the laws set forth by Allah, while also being an obedient citizen by following the rules and regulations recognized in their countries. Allah says: “O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.” (Qur’an: An–Nisa: 59).
Concerning the avoidance of antisocial attitudes, the conventional manmade laws are, chiefly, based on a collective agreement reached by certain community/ties, administered by authorized governmental officials, and fulfilled by national courts. This kind of national jurisdiction or community customary laws should be observed and implemented accordingly as long as it does not directly controvert the Book of Allah and human rights. This characterizes the individual to remain as a cooperative member of the community, because it is a part of righteousness to comfortably preserve the lives and sustenance of the societies.
The penalties of the above–cited misconducts cause severe detriments both in this world and the hereafter. For instance, in the world, the punishment is measured according to the committed offense and/or crime, and as such, it was based on the harmful consequence of the transgression multiplied with the violation of the law. It may range from financial fines, imprisonment, and restriction of freedom ranging from a month to several years, and up to the death penalty upon the murder of a human being. Add that, on Judgment Day, the worst procedure of reckoning and punishment is in store for such a disobedient.
The remembrance of Allah, Glory be to Him, protects people from all mindsets of evil influences and evildoings, including the above–cited group. If a person falls under the influence of Satan and the evil– doing souls, which lure him in the event of quarrels with other people, Allah wants them to immediately remember Allah and His guidance. By remembering Allah’s words one will be able to control his ego and restrain himself from falling into deception. About the remembrance of Allah’s words, Allah, the Almighty, says:
- “They are’ those who donate in prosperity and adversity, control their anger, and pardon others. And Allah loves the good–doers.” (Qur’an: Imran: 134).
- “Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond ‘to evil’ with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend.” (Qur’an: Fusilat: 34)
- “Evil and good are not equal, even though the abundance of evil may be pleasing to you. Be conscious to Allah, you who are endowed with understanding, so that you may triumph”. (Qur’an: Quran 5: 100).
The above analysis towards Allah’s remembrance should be practiced by following the Qur’anic verse that urges people to control their reactions in the situations of disputes, disagreements, and anything that may lead them to an argument, which Has been mentioned by Allah as: (The ‘true’ servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the foolish address them ‘improperly’, they only respond with peace” (Qur’an: The Compassionate Ones: 63). If a person mentions Allah and remembers the verses, which protect him from engaging in conflict or any other action anticipated to result in negative impact, Allah will rescue him from the effects of the emotional reaction and the consequences that will result from falling into Allah’s disobedience and potentially committing a crime.
Many verses of the Qur’an remind people to stay away from Satan so that they will be safe from complications, conflicts, crimes, chaos, and corruption. Among these verses of the Noble Qur’an are those which remind righteous individuals to continue providing admonition and advice against walking in the carriages of Satan. Satan and what it may attempt to incite in the sick souls are the real meaning of evil and evildoings. Satan endeavors to influence people to commit disobedience and sins as well as violations of the law that result from human actions, so that they will be held accountable for their actions. In contrary to that, Allah warns people against following the devils in the path of misguidance and what a person will encounter in terms of complicated and cumbersome situations that may cause kinds of differential miseries.
In case someone thinks about assaulting or waging a war against someone else, let him first remember Allah’s words before taking any action. To take a precaution by looking before leaping and using your discretionary means is advised to all. Allah, the Almighty, wants all human beings to be saved from the dark fates leading to harm themselves with their aggressions, including facing legal penalties and Allah’s punishment on Judgment Day. Thus, if someone thinks about stealing somebody’s money/property, let him remember Allah and deliberate Allah’s statements regarding the issue before taking that illegal action.
When someone is susceptible to steal, cheat, scam, or misappropriate money, it means his soul commands evil, which is to commit the crime of theft. His soul was influenced by Satan by beautifying ill– intentions commanding him to steal. At this stage, anyone who may think of stealing, cheating, scamming, or involving in sorcery, let him take a moment to hold himself back and remember Allah’s words regarding the punishments for theft.
That is how the Qur’an’s verses target the benefit, safety, and security of mankind in the life of this world, whilst calling them to pay efforts to inherit the paradise and prevent themselves from the punishment in the hereafter. Thus, they warn them against deviating from the remembrance of Allah. To succeed in all that, a Muslim must be guided by the verses of the Qur’an at every moment of their lives in every situation that a person may face or encounter. Otherwise, one is at risk for being a loser and the failure in this world and the hereafter. Bit, in the hereafter, Allah’s remembrance and the verses of the Qur’an cannot spare him as he has already reached the end of the tunnel.
Among those divine recommendations given to mankind is to honestly be adherent to Allah, and subsequently, maintain dealing with people in the best manner. For instance, everyone must be fair and honest when it comes to engaging in sales by not cheating or depriving any of the purchaser’s rights. Instead, he must deal with his customers with fairness, justice, politeness, and open–face by providing the best manner of customer service both in words and actions. Allah, the Almighty says: “Give in full when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is fairest and best in the end.” (Qur’an: Al–Israa: 35)
Equally, Allah, the Almighty, exhorts everybody to learn the habit of verifying every piece of news or information that he or she may have receive but does not practice and spread whatever he may heard without verification. Worse, it is extremely forbidden for someone to say something that he has not ever heard of or claim that he saw something that he did not see, or mention an event that did not happen. Since the person is responsible before Allah for every slanderous statement that he said, then, he must remember, on every occasion, Allah’s statement: “And do not stand what you do not know of. Indeed, hearing, sight, and the heart intellect are all of those who are questioned about it” (Qur’an: Al–Isra’a: 36).
Allah’s remembrance is not limited to seeking help from Allah during calamities and hardships. This kind of demand is based on selfishness, which specifies that the help–seeker has only one personal interest. He, explicitly, wants to get exit from a particular crisis without considering Allah’s magnificence and majesty. Seeking such occasional help indicates that the beggar’s concept towards his Creator is limited to relieving one–time misfortune.
All in all, indisputably, the remembrance of Allah attracts Allah’s mercy and blessings. Because He is the Almighty, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, and Omni–minder, His ability with certainty overwhelms and overrules all other abilities. That is why He is the ultimate helper of the patients, hungry, angry, anxious, depressed, debilitated, devastated, dehumanized, and degraded persons; families; groups; nations; and continents. Allah promised His mercy and blessing to reach every one of His creatures as long as they inquire them. Allah, Glory be to Him, addressing the pure believer, says that the true believer is the one who says my Lord is the one: “Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. And it is He who feeds me and gives me a drink. And when I am ill, it is He who cures me”(Qur’an: Ash–Shi’ara: 80),
Therefore, the diseases, worries, calamities, and any other barricades will be relieved and cured by Allah, the Almighty, provided the anguished one remembers Allah with certainty. The afflicted one needs to certainly believe in Allah’s strength and ability while having full confidence in His help based on His mercy and kindness. On the other hand, such a tormented person would spend wealth, if he can afford to do so, on his relatives, the poor, the beggar, the needy, and the wayfarer to ensure that he or she paid his or her due Zakat as Allah, the Almighty, commanded him in His statement: “Who spend their money at night and the day is secret and publicly. And he thanks him for work and charity, so Allah increases His blessings because Allah is sincere in His gratitude and remembrance of Him, sincere in his Islam, and sincere in his faith” (Qur’an: The Cow (Al–Baqarah): 274).
In conclusion, these are some examples indicating how the verses of the Qur’an target the benefit, safety, and security of mankind in the life of this world, whilst calling them to pay efforts to inherit the paradise and prevent themselves from the torment in the hereafter. Thus, they warn them against deviating from the remembrance of Allah. To succeed in all that, a Muslim must be guided by the verses of the Qur’an at every moment of their lives in every situation that a person may encounter. Otherwise, one is at risk of being a loser and failure in this world and the hereafter. However, in the hereafter, Allah’s remembrance and the verses of the Qur’an cannot spare him as he has already reached the end of the tunnel.
Satan’s strategies are so tricky and tumultuous but the person under attack can defend himself by resorting to Allah. Just as Allah’s remembrance in situations where Satan attempts to influence a person to commit sins and crimes, Satan first attempts to influence such a targeted person to strive towards committing disobedience to Allah. Then, that person will forget to remember Allah, at least, during that moment, in which they are committing the sin and or crime. Once the felony takes place, Satan turns away from that person by retracting from falling into disobedience. Later on, on Reckoning Day, when such a criminal person is brought in front of Allah’s court, Satan will declare that it (Satan) has nothing to do with any of that person’s felonies and misdemeanors. Allah is telling us the arguments and the discourses that will take place between the person and Satan by saying: “And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy” (Qur’an: Al–Isra: 53).
